Child/Adolescent Services

Services provided to youth typically begins with an assessment interview with the youth and significant family members. Children under 18 need parental consent for services and Dr. Wiesner asks that both parents consent if the youth's parents do not live together. 


Parents are regularly informed, and are encouraged to be involved with their child's services here. Although occasionally older teens are seen individually; a usual treatment session with Dr. Wiesner involves the majority of time with the child/teen and also a brief time with a parent to inform them of progress, what will be done that session, as well as finding out how the child/teen is doing from the parent's perspective.


Common Individual Counseling Areas of Concern:

Compliance with parents or teachers, emotional regulation (melt downs or temper tantrums), coping with difficult situations, self esteem, reducing anxiety symptoms, Cognitive-Behavioral treatment for anxiety disorders like OCD, Panic Disorder, or Phobias, depressive symptoms, underachievement in school, learning to cope with stress.


Adult Services

When seeking individual services; help begins with a clinical interview designed to better understand you and the struggles you are facing. typically at the end of this interview process a collaborative plan is developed by you and Dr. Wiesner specifying the goals of treatment, how often we will meet, and how and what will be done to accomplish those goals. 


Common Individual Counseling Areas of Concern:

To have improved relationships with others, to have fewer or less severe depressive symptoms, to learn to better cope with my medical condition, improve emotional regulation, coping with difficult situations, self esteem, reducing anxiety symptoms, Cognitive-Behavioral treatment for anxiety disorders like OCD, Panic Disorder, or Phobias, depressive symptoms, learning to cope with stress.


Couples Counseling

Couples counseling is designed to improve the relationship of the couple. It is not to treat anxiety, depression, or some other psychological disorder. Dr. Wiesner will always be working with both members of the couple.


Common Couples Counseling Areas of Concern:

​improving communications, being emotionally supportive, dealing with differences, how to effectively argue.


Diagnostic/Assessment Services

Only clinical assessments are offered. No assessments needed for court proceedings are provided. No testing services are available for children under age 6.


Psychological testing and assessment services are utilized to better understand the emotional, behavioral, and/or learning components affecting you or your child. Assessment services help you and your healthcare provider or educator you are working with to develop a plan  to best help you. Assessment services typically start with a clinical interview followed by psychological testing, when needed.


Psychological testing may be useful for:

Identifying factors affecting your emotional struggles, better understanding your learning style of identify learning disabilities, determining and documenting any needed academic accommodations, clarify your psychiatric diagnoses, diagnose ADHD, help you or your healthcare provider gain useful information in planning treatment to help you.
